Between 1960 and 1996, France conducted 210 Nuclear Bomb Tests in French Polynesia, the South Pacific. Some were 1,000 times more powerful than the ones exploded at Hiroshima, or Nagasaki. Radiation reached as far as New Zealand and Peru – over 5,000 miles away
Over Tahiti, radiation levels were 500 times the accepted maximum “safety” level
Rainbow Warrior, the Greenpeace Protest flagship, is moored at Marsden Wharf, Auckland in New Zealand, where the crew are organising a Peace Flotilla to help her stop the latest French Nuclear Test.
Operation Satanique was the French Secret Services codename for a covert mission in New Zealand.
